Short answer: neither is clearly better, so buy on price. The Onn Large Party gen 2 is an insane value speaker, though it is not quite as loud as the old one. The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 is warm with boosted bass and runs 8 hours at medium volume, and at $130 against $129 the two are effectively the same money. The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 is discontinued; its replacement is the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 9.
Buy the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 ($130) for a boombox speaker; the Onn Large Party gen 2 ($129) suits a party speaker instead.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 6 at IPX7 (brief submersion) against the Onn Large Party gen 2, which has IPX4 (splashing).
