The Genelec 8330A is the more accurate choice. An accurate compact studio monitor with room calibration support and deeper bass than its smaller sibling. Its measured preference score, a predictor of how neutral it sounds, is 5.54 against 4.28 for the Kanto YU6. The catch: The listening-window response has more local variation than the Genelec 8030C or KH80 in the selected measurements, so DSP capability should not be mistaken for superior native neutrality.
What the Kanto YU6 does well: A powered bookshelf pair with a phono input, optical, Bluetooth and a remote, a simple multi source system. The tradeoff: Local response variation remains despite the mild overall tilt: the midrange span is 3.8dB and listening-window narrow-band deviation is 0.419.
Buy the Genelec 8330A. It is rated higher for sound quality and still sold new, while the Kanto YU6 is discontinued.
