Focal Twin6 Be vs Genelec 8341A

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Short answer: the Genelec 8341A on measured flatness and directivity. Its CEA2034 spinorama is exceptionally flat on-axis, within about +1.8dB/-2.2dB of the target curve, with excellent directivity control from the coaxial midrange/tweeter and dual 6.5” woofers. The catch is that the bass amplifier runs out of headroom well before the mid and treble sections, while the Focal Twin6 Be brings high output and its dual W-composite drivers.

Focal Twin6 Be vs Genelec 8341A

What the Focal Twin6 Be gets right: High-output 2.5-way studio monitor with an inverted beryllium tweeter and two 6.5-inch W-composite drivers, one covering bass/midrange and the other reinforcing only 40-150Hz. The catch: The response and directivity are not as uniformly neutral as newer waveguided three-way monitors, and Erin suspected intermodulation-related roughness even though conventional harmonic distortion was low.

Buy the Genelec 8341A. It is rated higher for sound quality, and saving $2,190 with the Focal Twin6 Be does not make up for the sound-quality gap.

Pros: The dual-woofer arrangement offers useful output capability for studio work, with a 48.3Hz measured -3dB point in the horizontal test. Its professional controls and format can suit a dedicated monitoring installation. Measured bass extension of 48.3Hz (-3dB).

Cons: The horizontal measurement scores 6.06 with an ideal subwoofer and spans 2.9dB from 300Hz to 5kHz. Off-axis variation limits tonal consistency across listening positions. Orientation matters, and neither the beryllium tweeter nor the additional woofer makes its measured balance class-leading. Erin suspected intermodulation-related roughness even though harmonic distortion measured low.

Genelec 8341A ranking card

Pros: An 8.52 ideal-subwoofer preference score and 1.2dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz place the measured vertical configuration among the strongest tonal performers here. Coaxial radiation and GLM support precise nearfield imaging and room integration. Measured bass extension of 47.6Hz (-3dB).

Cons: Measured -3dB extension is 47.6Hz, so the larger 8351B and 8361A provide more useful low-end reach and headroom. The review found bass-output limitations at demanding levels. Its excellent ideal-subwoofer score should not be read as equivalent full-range output to those larger models.
