Short answer: the Edifier S3000MKII, if you are buying new. The Edifier S3000Pro ranks higher than the Edifier S1000MKII (#102 vs #82 of 108 powered bookshelf speakers) but is discontinued; its replacement, the Edifier S3000MKII, is rated 3.9/5 at $999.97 and is still sold new.
Why pick the Edifier S3000Pro: A large powered pair with digital and analog inputs and tone controls, a complete music system with no separate amplifier needed. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Edifier S1000MKII lacks. The tradeoff: The substantial cabinet size requires more space than a typical desktop pair.
The case for the Edifier S1000MKII: A self-powered stereo pair with optical, coaxial, analog and Bluetooth inputs that makes switching sources simple. The tradeoff: High-resolution input support is not a guarantee of perfect tuning, and the fixed internal amplification prevents the gradual upgrades possible with separates.
Buy the Edifier S3000MKII, the replacement for the discontinued Edifier S3000Pro; it is rated higher for sound quality than the Edifier S1000MKII.
