It supports aptX HD Bluetooth, which the Edifier R2850DB lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Edifier R2850DB lacks. The tradeoff: The substantial cabinet size requires more space than a typical desktop pair.
What the Edifier R2850DB does well: A big three way powered pair with deep bass, enough output for a large room, and Bluetooth, optical and RCA inputs. The tradeoff: The big cabinets need real stand or furniture space, and their bass is slightly boomy.
Buy the Edifier R2850DB if price matters most. For better sound quality, the Edifier S3000MKII, the replacement for the discontinued Edifier S3000Pro, is rated higher but costs $999.97.
