Short answer: the Edifier R2850DB. It ranks #103 of 119 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality, rated 3.8/5, at $499.99. The Edifier R2000DB ranks #80, rated 3.3/5, at $299.99, $200 cheaper, not enough of a saving to outweigh the sound-quality gap.
What the Edifier R2850DB does well: A big three way powered pair with deep bass, enough output for a large room, and Bluetooth, optical and RCA inputs. It supports aptX Bluetooth, which the Edifier R2000DB lacks. The catch: The big cabinets need real stand or furniture space, and their bass is slightly boomy.
What the Edifier R2000DB does well: A simple powered stereo pair with Bluetooth, two analog inputs and optical for desktop or living room listening. The tradeoff: Listening impressions suggest a midrange-forward presentation.
Buy the Edifier R2850DB. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $200 saving on the Edifier R2000DB is not enough to make up the difference.
