Short answer: the Onn Portable FM Boombox. Both are rated 4.2/5 for sound quality (#26 and #25 of 115 large speakers), and the Onn Portable FM Boombox costs $74.83 against $179 for the Bose SoundLink Plus, with sound quality a draw, the lower price decides it.
The Bose SoundLink Plus is the lighter choice. A waterproof mid size speaker with vibrant sound, booming bass, clean mids, a long battery and premium build. At 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Onn Portable FM Boombox at 4.9 lbs (2.22 kg). The catch: Boosted thuddy bass, but not as deep as the SoundLink Flex and you should probably just buy one of those instead if you want a Bose.
What the Onn Portable FM Boombox does well: An excellent value waterproof boombox that floats, with reasonably deep bass, FM radio, lights and a long battery. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Bose SoundLink Plus lacks. Watch for: Reasonable frequency response, but not quite as smooth as some of the top-ranked speakers in this size.
Buy the Onn Portable FM Boombox. Both are rated the same for sound quality, and it costs $104.17 less than the Bose SoundLink Plus.
