Short answer: the Beats Pill 2024. It ranks #79 of 164 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 3.3/5, at $99.95. The W-King D8 Mini ranks #129, rated 2.6/5, at $49.99, $49.96 cheaper, a saving that is not big enough to make up the sound-quality gap.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Doubles as a power bank (USB-C charge-out). Its bass reaches about 56Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the W-King D8 Mini. At 1.5 lbs (680 g) it weighs much less than the W-King D8 Mini at 2.8 lbs (1.26 kg). The catch: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
The case for the W-King D8 Mini: 30W output with switchable indoor/outdoor EQ modes. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Beats Pill 2024 lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Beats Pill 2024 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Beats Pill 2024. The tradeoff: Recessed midrange, harsh treble.
Buy the Beats Pill 2024. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $49.96 you would save on the W-King D8 Mini does not close the gap.
