Short answer: the Beats Pill 2024. It ranks #78 of 177 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 3.3/5, at $99.95. The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 ranks #109, rated 2.9/5, at $79.99, $19.96 cheaper, which does not close the gap in sound quality.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass choice. A compact waterproof speaker with long battery life, fast charging, a power bank port and stereo pairing. Its bass reaches about 56Hz before falling 10dB, against 76Hz for the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 14 for the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 lacks. Watch for: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is the lighter option. A small, drop resistant waterproof speaker that floats, made for pools, showers and hiking packs. At 0.9 lbs (420 g) it weighs much less than the Beats Pill 2024 at 1.5 lbs (680 g). The tradeoff: Not stereo, barely any bass.
Buy the Beats Pill 2024. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $19.96 saving on the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 3 is not enough to make up the difference.
