The tradeoff: What Hi-Fi’s one real complaint was distortion at higher volumes, and bass force and detail both fall off at the low end, typical for a speaker not much bigger than a hockey ball.
The Denon Home 150 is the better-sounding choice. A compact smart speaker with built in Alexa, easy HEOS setup and stereo pairing with a second unit. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen lacks. The tradeoff: Tom’s Guide’s own complaints are that it costs more than the Sonos One and has no automatic room tuning to correct for placement.
Buy the Amazon Echo Dot 5th Gen if price matters most. For better sound quality, the Denon Home 200, the replacement for the discontinued Denon Home 150, is rated higher but costs $399.
