ATC Speaker Rankings and Reviews

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Coverage note. Speaker Ranking currently covers 2 ATC models across passive speakers. These are the products in our database, not a complete list of everything ATC makes.

What this page covers. The ATC models ranked here span passive speakers, including ATC SCM19 and ATC SCM40. Use each model’s category position to compare it with alternatives of the same size and use case.

This page lists all 2 ATC speakers ranked on this site across passive speakers. Each model is shown in the category where it competes, with its current rank and the size of that ranking.

Use the category position rather than the brand name alone: speakers from the same manufacturer can perform very differently by size, price and product family.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers

Ranked #190 of 203 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - ATC SCM19: $3750 per pair The Music Room eBay

ATC SCM19 ranking card

Same family: the ATC SCM40 (floorstanding, estimated 2.6/5).

Pros: Harmonic distortion at 96dB SPL/1m stays generally low across the range aside from the spike tied to the 700-800Hz resonance. Sealed (unported) cabinet avoids port noise and resonance, and the extremely dense, heavy-duty enclosure (17.8kg/39lb each) reflects ATC’s pro-audio build standards. Measured bass extension of 60Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 85dB.

Cons: Some stored energy resonance around 500-700Hz, 4dB bump around 700Hz. Not recommended for the price. CEA2034 spinorama and predicted in-room response both show a very uneven overall balance (a broad accentuation from midrange to treble paired with too little bass) along with directivity error. At 96dB SPL/1m, harmonic distortion tied to the 500-700Hz resonance rises to a level the reviewer says “should not be there.”

Large Size Floorstanding Speakers

Ranked #181 of 188 in Large Size Floorstanding Speakers - ATC SCM40: $7,999.00 per pair Estimated Acoustic Frontiers eBay

ATC SCM40 ranking card

Same family: the ATC SCM19 (bookshelf, rated 2.4/5).

Pros: A 3-way tower built around ATC’s 75mm soft dome midrange, the pro-audio driver that gives ATC its reputation for clean, dynamic vocals, with a 25mm tweeter and a 164mm woofer (crossovers at 380Hz and 3.5kHz). Each pair is matched to ±0.5dB and the cabinet is a heavy 31kg.

Cons: No independent measurements yet, so its tonal balance and directivity can’t be compared directly with measured speakers; the rating is estimated from the measured ATC SCM19, which showed too little bass, a forward midrange to treble balance and a 4dB resonance near 700Hz. Sensitivity is a low 85dB and ATC recommends 75 to 300 watts, and bass is rated only to 48Hz (-6dB).
