JBL Charge 6 vs Turtlebox Ranger

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Charge 6. It ranks #11 of 136 medium speakers by sound quality at $199.95; the Turtlebox Ranger ranks #53 and costs $250, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

The case for the JBL Charge 6: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Set against that: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz.

What the Turtlebox Ranger offers: Much better frequency response than the other Turtlebox speakers. Has magnets for attaching it to things. The catch: Bass sounds kind of thuddy and isn’t as deep as higher ranked speakers.

Buy the JBL Charge 6. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Turtlebox Ranger and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

If battery life is a priority, the JBL Charge 6 is rated for 24 hours versus 12 hours for the Turtlebox Ranger.

Pros: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here

Cons: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
