The Best Small Pocket Size Speaker With Aux Input
The best small pocket size speaker with aux input and the best sound quality is the $100 Minirig Mini 2

The Best Medium Size Speaker With Aux Input
The best medium size battery powered speaker with aux input and the best sound quality with modern features is the $50 Earfun Uboom L (after clipped coupon and coupon UBOOMLWC in the payment options)
- Positives: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park. The audiophile choice. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. For maximum volume without distortion use max volume - 1 step for most songs. Oluv left another higher volume for sounds that are quiet. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour.
- Negatives: Latency is high (400ms) without turning on low latency mode (66ms) which doesn’t work when two speakers are TWS paired. Low latency mode can be turned on by pressing the Bluetooth button twice. If latency in TWS paired mode is a very important feature, like if you watch a lot of video, you may want to choose another speaker. The power button can sometimes get accidentally pressed when put in a bag. The aux input has quite a bit of latency and isn’t recommended for video use.
- Setup: Try setting up the Earfun App (Android or iOS) to see if that works. If not, you’ll need to flash firmware 1.2.7 to work with the app and set with Oluv’s EQ in the Earfun app which sounds the best. The instructions say that you need a USB3 cable, but most USB2 cables work just fine, try the one included with your phone. Check the current firmware version by turning it on, then pressing the power and Bluetooth buttons at the same time. To flash, turn the speaker off then hold down the Bluetooth button while plugging in the cable. To flash on a mac, see these instructions. In TWS mode, long press the outdoor button for 2 seconds to change TWS to Party mode and back.

The best medium size batter powered speaker with a 0 latency aux input for video use is the $80 Soundcore Motion+
- Positives: The previous best sounding in class, still a great speaker with separate tweeters, more bass at full volume and better off-axis treble frequency response than the Uboom L. Just okay with the default EQ, I highly recommend using this EQ setting from r/kai7895 to get it more neutral. To achieve the absolute best sound you’ll need the Wavelet app (Android only) and set the provided Wavelet EQ in there too. Turn off the wavelet EQ for outdoor use. An alternative is Oluv’s EQ which only needs the Soundcore app EQ. Note these EQs only really sound perfect at a medium volume level.
- Negatives: Not quite as neutral or detailed as the Uboom L. Without the above EQ, this speaker will rank around #25 in the rankings.

The Best Large Size Speaker With Aux Input
The best reasonably priced large size battery powered speaker with aux input for deeper bass with great sound quality is the $119 Tribit Stormbox Lava running this Oluv EQ
- Positives: Fantastic bass extension. Sounds pretty neutral in the Jazz mode. Goes deeper than the Boom 2 as seen in the linked video of sound samples. Try this EQ from Oluv for the flattest response although adjust the lowest slider to your bass boost preference.
- Negatives: Quite heavy for the size. Some bass boost way down low. Treble and mids have some peaks.

The Best Boombox Size Speaker With Aux Input
The best boombox size battery powered speaker with aux input for deep bass and excellent sound quality, that can get loud for a party but can still be carried by hand is the $110 Earfun Uboom X (after clipped coupon and code UBOOMXDR in the payment options)
- Positives: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. The Earfun app (Android or iOS) has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L.
- Negatives: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible, please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. Some people have mentioned sound interruption issues when using 2 in TWS, I don’t have this issue with my Pixel 7 Pro.

- Alan Ross Reviews: Earfun Uboom X Mini Boombox bluetooth speaker, a PROPER review 😝
- Links
If the Uboom X is out of stock, I’d recommend the $160 Tribit Stormbox Blast
- Positives: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off.
- Negatives: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.

- Positives: Warm sound with boosted bass. Deepest bass out of any speaker in this size. Sound is more natural than the Go+play2.
- Negatives: Just a little over half as loud as the higher rated boomboxes. Only 8 hours of battery at medium volume. No water rating.
- Setup: Use the hidden EQ modes to adjust the bass up when outside and down when inside. To adjust bass, quickly press the bluetooth and volume down buttons together, the number of light flashes tell you what mode you’re in.
